From 1 April 2022, for travel across the land border between Singapore and Malaysia Without quarantine and tests.

From 1 April 2022, for travel across the land border between Singapore and Malaysia, both countries will allow fully vaccinated travellers to enter without the need to undergo quarantine or testing, including pre-departure and on-arrival tests. This will apply to all categories of travellers and modes of transport via the land border.

The new rules will apply to all categories of travellers and modes of transport via the land border, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a joint statement on Thursday (Mar 24).

“This will allow travellers with a more essential need for travel, such as for employment or to reunite with their families, to do so more smoothly as we reopen our borders with Malaysia,” the ministry added.

Checklist for travellers from Singapore before departure:

  • Take a pre-departure test within 2 days of departure (for air and sea travellers)
  • Download the MySejahtera application
  • Fill up the Digital Pre-departure Form under the ‘Traveller’ icon on the MySejahtera app.
  • Verify your COVID-19 digital vaccination certificates here. If you have previously verified your digital vaccination certificate on the MySejahtera application, you can skip this step.
  • All short-term foreign visitors from Singapore who are partially vaccinated or not vaccinated, are required to have COVID-19 travel insurance for their COVID-19-related medical treatment and hospitalisation costs in Malaysia, with a minimum coverage of US$20,000

VTL Land increase to 3420 people daily

VTL Land between Singapore and Malaysia will be increased from 2,160 people to 3,420 people starting Monday, 14 March 2022.

This would allow even more fully vaccinated people to travel across the Causeway without being subject to quarantine and other related requirements. This announcement follows the previous increase of capacities from 50% to 100% on 16 February 2022.The sale of bus tickets for the additional daily quota will begin on Friday, 11 March 2022 for travel from Monday, 14 March 2022 onwards.

Malaysia’s designated bus operator will continue to operate the VTL By Land to Singapore from the Larkin Terminal in Johor Bahru.Passengers will still be subject to existing VTL Land travel requirements including the pre-departure (PDT) tests and on-arrival tests (OAT).
